In recognition of National Friends of the Library Week this week, the Friends of the Jefferson Public Library are celebrating with a special event.

The second annual Chocolate Friendzy event will take place tomorrow at the library. Co-Chair Bonnie Silbaugh tells Raccoon Valley Radio there will be six chocolate stations for Friends members to sample the chocolate creations and recipes to take home. Silbaugh adds, attendees will vote on their favorite creation with the Tootsie Roll Straw Poll and the winner will receive a chocolate-themed prize. She talks about how successful the inaugural year was for the event.

“We had an excellent turnout last year. We gained 25 new members for the Friends of the (Jefferson) Public Library, which is a great response. Memberships are as low as $5, but a lot of people gave more than that because they know how important it is to help fund those extra programs that just go over the budget, really provide extra services for the adults and kids that visit the library.”

Saturday’s event is for Friends members only from 9am to noon. Applications for membership, as well as renewals, will be available at the door on Saturday.
