Iowa hunting seasons continue this weekend with pheasant hunting for youth.
The resident-only season gives youth 15 and under an opportunity to have an early shot at rooster pheasants without purchasing a license, paying a habitat fee, or completing a hunter safety course. Participating youth must hunt under direct supervision of any adult 18 or older that has a valid hunting license and has paid a habitat fee.
These seasons also give youth a much easier access to ideal hunting grounds without competition or pressure from other hunters. The bag limit is one rooster pheasant per day. Regular pheasant season starts on October 28 and runs until January 10.
