On Wednesday, November 1st, Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate will conduct the annual Iowa Youth Straw Poll. West Central Valley and Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center School districts will participate in the event. More than 230 schools and over 40,000 students have signed up to participate in the poll.

The goal of the poll is to give students an opportunity to engage in civic responsibility and encourage them to participate in their communities. The poll features a range of topics including: whether cities should use fireworks, favorite school subjects, favorite state universities, and favorite superheroes. The poll is a component of “Elections 101”, a free online curriculum written by Iowa teachers for Iowa students.
