The Greene County School Board will meet twice tonight.
The first meeting is a work session at 5:15pm. The Board will discuss their overall board goals, with focus on education, financial and facility topics. Plus, there will be a discussion of information for the new Iowa Association of School Board’s (IASB) workshop.
The regular meeting then takes place at 6:30pm. The Board is expected to approve the sale of the Grand Junction softball field to the City of Grand Junction, following a public hearing on the topic. The Board will then take possible action following a closed session. Under old business, the Board will review a literacy policy and hear a fundraising update for the soccer program.
Under new business, the Board will consider for approval an application for a physical education waiver, early graduation requests, a shared English language learner teacher with Prairie Valley/Southeast Webster-Grand, out-of-state field trip requests, solicitation for asbestos removal of the school building in Grand Junction, fundraising requests, an appointment to the basic diploma committee, debt collection services, leave policy for spouse/grandparent upon birth/adoption of a child and a lease agreement for the Rippey baseball field. Additionally, the Board will discuss creating a regional academy and take possible action sending out a proposal to hire an architect firm. The Board will also discuss their goals from the work session, a joint meeting with Paton-Churdan School Board and the IASB convention in November.
Both meetings will take place in the conference room of the administrative building in Jefferson.
