Dallas Co Supervisors 10-17

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday morning in regular session.

The first part of the meeting was devoted to a workshop on future court space needs. Christopher Patterson, the Fifth Judicial District Court Administrator, took the Board through issues with space they are currently having at the Dallas County courthouse. He also proposed some changes they could make now to accommodate their immediate needs. The Supervisors didn’t take any action, but will revisit the issue in the near future.

At 10 a.m., they held a public hearing for the first reading of an amendment to the county’s urban renewal area ordinance. The Board passed the ordinance on first reading, as well as a resolution adopting an amendment. They will hold the second reading in a public hearing at next week’s meeting. Next, they set the time and date for three public hearings. Hearings for loan issuance for the law enforcement center and for the vacation of a road will be held on October 31st. A hearing for an amendment to the fiscal year 2018 budget will be held on November 7th.

Finally, the Supervisors approved several resolutions, including: accepting the first set of operating transfers for the fiscal year; a contract with Outdoor Design Solutions for courthouse landscaping in the amount of $12,082.74; roof repair contracts with Central States Roofing for the Human Services Campus, and Academy Roofing for 902 Court Street; and a scanning contract for historical election records for the auditor’s department. The meeting concluded with a workshop for the Information Technology Department.
