Tonight marks the third time in the last 15 days the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers (22-11 overall) will face Raccoon River Conference member Boone (17-20 overall) on the volleyball court. The opening round of the Class 4A Region 2 bracket pits the squads against one another with the winner advancing their season into next week. The Tigers have bested the Toreadors in the previous two meetings, including winning their league match on October 3 in Boone in four games (25-15, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20). ADM topped Boone in the Pella volleyball tournament on October 7 in straight sets (21-17, 21-13).
Multiple ADM players are approaching in season statistical milestones. Senior Sami Schepers is seven kills shy of 300, while senior Amy Gottschalk is seven kills away from 150. Sophomore Delaney Bertman is 10 assists short of 500, and Ellie Mueller is seven digs away from 200. Junior Jordyn Crow is one block from 25.
The winner of tonight’s match moves to the regional semifinal in Glenwood Tuesday versus the Rams (16-13 overall). The championship match takes place Monday, October 30 at the site of the highest seed remaining in the tournament. First serve between ADM and Boone is set for 7 p.m. in Adel.
