WCV (1)On September 7th, the West Central Valley volleyball team took the court against I-35. The Lady Wildcats battled through five sets, but fell to the Lady Roadrunners 25-10, 21-25, 25-16, 18-25, 10-15. They will get a chance to flip the script tonight as the Class 2A Region Four playoffs kick off in Truro.

The Lady Roadrunners (5-15) come into tonight’s contest with a four match losing streak. In those four matches, I-35 has claimed just one set against Nodaway Valley in the Pride of Iowa Conference tournament. I-35 averages just over ten kills per game, the lowest in the POI Conference. Senior Bailey McCuddin leads the team in that category with 51 and is second in digs with 50.

West Central Valley (6-19) is fresh of a straight sets loss to Van Meter but will bring a lot of energy to Truro. The Lady Wildcats have won six of their last ten matches, including the Saydel tournament. If the Wildcats win this match tonight, it will likely be at the hands of Jenna Merical. The sophomore has led the team all season long, especially behind the service line. She leads the team in aces with 35.

The winner will face Earlham in the Region Four Quarterfinals. First serve is at 7 pm.
