
A Jefferson man is scheduled to stand trial in Greene County District Court.
According court documents, 46-year-old James Hubert Exline is scheduled to have his trial start tomorrow. The Clerk of Court’s office confirmed to Raccoon Valley Radio that jury selection is underway today. The presiding judge, the Honorable Kurt Stoebe requested the jury pool be expanded from 65 to 100. Once the jury is seated, the trial will commence. Court documents also show that Exline was granted the ability to hire a private investigator, at the public’s expense, to not exceed $5,000.
Exline is accused of sexually abusing his 12-year-old daughter from June 2016 to April 2017. The female minor then died in a house fire in Guthrie Center on May 17th. Exline is charged with a Class A Felony for his second or subsequent offense for second degree sexual abuse and a Class C Felony for third degree sexual abuse.
Court documents show that the Iowa Attorney General’s office is the lead prosecutor.
