The open burning season is nearly here for the City of Perry, so they are taking the opportunity to remind residents of the burning rules.
First, residents are allowed to burn their yard waste from October 28th through November 19th from 10 a.m. until sundown. Burning is restricted to private property, in the rear of the property, and must be supervised at all times. It also must be at least 30 feet from any building not owned by the property owner. Additionally, citizens are only permitted to burn yard waste within City limits. Trash burning is prohibited at all times.
In spite of open burning being permitted, the City still encourages residents to find alternative methods to dispose of yard waste. The public works department does hold yard waste pickup every Wednesday for the whole City until the middle of November as a possible alternative.
