The Perry varsity football and volleyball teams both recently held fundraisers to benefit charitable organizations.
The volleyball team held their annual “Dig for a Cure” event to raise money for the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research. They sold t-shirts, held a teacher “Jeans Day” program, and had a bucket passed around at their game against Winterset. All total, the team raised around $700 through the fundraiser.
A few days later, the football team held “American Night” to benefit the Puppy Jake Foundation, which raises service dogs for veterans with disabilities and post-traumatic stress disorder. While heavy rain and an early start likely kept much of the community away from the event, the team was still able to raise more than $800 for the fundraiser. Additionally, they gathered several collars, leashes, and dog toys that were also donated to the Foundation.
