The Perry Public Library is holding its annual shredding event tomorrow, and residents and businesses alike are invited to destroy their old documents.

From 10 a.m. to noon in the south parking area of the library, the Des Moines company The Shredder will be facilitating the event. The Shredder is a different company than the library has used in years past, and Library Director Mary Murphy is unsure if they will allow people to watch the mass-shredding process. However, they do come with a perk, as Murphy explains, “You don’t have to take out the staples. That was the interesting thing, because I know people spend a lot of time taking out staples. The binder clips, please take the binder clips out. But if you have staples, then you don’t have to worry about that.”

The shredding event is being sponsored by the library and the City of Perry, and there is no cost to participate.
