The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday morning in regular session.
The first action item on the agenda was a resolution declaring official intent to issue debt, which is in relation to the new law enforcement center and the $22.9 million bond referendum. The purpose of the resolution was to cover expenses relating to imminent construction costs, including the recently awarded bid for ground work. The county estimates spending a little over $5 million of the total bond before February to cover costs.
Next, the Board held a discussion with County Recorder Chad Airhart about the final stages of his office’s efforts to convert all their physical documents into digital files. They needed approval to convert large plat maps into their system, which will cost around $12,000. After that, the Supervisors approved a letter written from the County to the Perry Police Department, officially notifying them of the Emergency Medical Services Department’s switch to using the Dallas County Dispatch as their sole dispatch provider. The Perry Police are well aware of the change, the letter just makes the county’s intentions official.
Finally, the Board held several discussions about facilities management, including: the courthouse landscape plans and the bids currently received for the work; a roof contract that they may look at rebidding because the contractor said they wouldn’t get to it until spring; and recommendations for the courthouse maintenance and repairs. The county will put together a request for proposals for the courthouse maintenance to be presented next week.
The meeting concluded with a departmental workshop with Veteran’s Affairs.
