Dallas County Auditor Julia Helm announced recently that absentee ballots for the upcoming city elections are now available.
The election will be on Tuesday, November 7th, and citizens have until Monday, November 6th at 5 p.m. to submit their votes. In order to secure an absentee ballot, you must request one in writing. Forms are available at the auditor’s office in Adel, as well as the Dallas County and Iowa Secretary of State websites. Your request for an absentee ballot must be received by the auditor’s office by 5 p.m. on November 3rd.
Ballots returned through mail must be postmarked by midnight on November 6th. However, Helm encourages voters to return their absentee ballots before November 3rd. Additionally, from now until the day before the election, you can vote early at the auditor’s office. Helm reminds residents in the unincorporated areas of Dallas County that their votes are still needed in the election, as there is a countywide measure relating to the local option sales and services tax.
