A reminder for Jefferson residents to make sure their garbage is secure and doesn’t exceed the weight maximum allowed per container.
The City allows for no more than a 35-gallon container for garbage, with handles or another easy lifting device for sanitary crews to lift the receptacles into the garbage trucks. Residents cannot fill the 35-gallon container with more than 50-pounds of garbage. If just using garbage bags, the contents must not exceed 30-pounds.
Each residence is allowed up to two 35-gallon garbage cans or four garbage bags. The City will charge $5 for each additional garbage bag or can used when sanitation crews pick up your garbage.
Another reminder that Monday is Columbus Day and all garbage routes in Jefferson will be delayed by one day.
