The last regular season race of the year took the Panorama Panthers boys and girls cross country teams to Jewel Thursday night. The annual Jim Klein Cross Country Invitational hosted by the South Hamilton Hawks featured runners from 13 regional schools including AC/GC, Madrid, and Ogden.

The Panther girls cross country team came away with a second place team finish with 81 points. Ella Waddle was the first Panorama runner to cross the finish line, clocking the race’s second-best time at 19:54. Other finishers included Gwen Steffen 10th (21:25), Brianna Hoffman 12th (21:35), Oliva Steffen 18th (22:10), and Lydia Lindstrom 39th (23:20). Panorama head cross country coach Greg Thompson tells Raccoon Valley Radio Devyen Kemble didn’t participate in the race to rest for the upcoming state qualifying race.

The Panorama boys scored 268 points for a 10th place team finish. Senior Josh Carstens was the first Panther across the finish line, taking 24th place at 18:02. Other finishers include Danny Nordquist 55th (19:07), Levi Richey 57th (19:09), Kaleb Randel 64th, and Sam Webster 68th (19:41).

The postseason begins next week for the Panorama Panthers cross country teams. The Panthers will compete in the West Central Athletic Conference’s meet on Thursday at the Lake Panorama Par 3 golf course. Panorama’s state qualifying race is October 19 at a site to be determined.
