While the final bridge replacement project is just underway in Greene County, another bridge project recently completed.
The Greenbrier Creek Bridge on County Road E-57 was closed earlier this week to motorists. The Greene County Board of Supervisors awarded the project to Iowa Bridge and Culvert for $574,544, which was about three-percent over the estimated cost of the project. County Engineer Wade Weiss says he wanted to get this bridge replaced this year, due to the damage it had from when a Pepsi semi-truck crashed through the structure and landed in the creek in November of 2016.
The official detour route is County Road E-63 to County Road P-14 to Highway 4. Weiss expects the project to take two to three months to complete.
Additionally, a bridge replacement project recently completed on County Road N-65. Weiss tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Hyde Park Bridge is now open. The bridge has been closed since the beginning of the year. Godbersen-Smith replaced the entire structure for close to $2 million.
