Two road matches inside the Raccoon River Conference await the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers volleyball team (11-7 overall; 3-0 RRC) the next three days. The first contest comes tonight when the Tigers head to Madison County for a clash against the Winterset Huskies (8-9 overall; 0-3 RRC). The squads are on opposite sides of the league standings.
ADM sits atop of the Raccoon River Conference, winning the first three league matches. The Tigers outlasted the Ballard Bombers (7-6 overall; 3-1 RRC) in five-set last Tuesday in Adel (22-25, 17-25, 25-21, 25-16, 17-15). Sami Schepers recorded a season-high 20 kills while Amy Gottschalk added 13 in the come-from-behind victory. ADM other league wins came in straight sets at Perry (25-18, 25-7, 25-17) on September 5 and versus Carroll (25-9, 25-15, 25-19) on September 12. The Tigers are set to visit Carlisle Thursday for another league contest.
It’s been a mediocre start to the season for the Winterset Huskies, winning eight of their first 17 matches. However, the Huskies are winless against Raccoon River Conference competition. Their latest league setback came against Bondurant-Farrar on September 14, falling in four sets (25-23, 19-25, 19-25, 13-25). Tonight’s varsity match between the Tigers and Huskies serves at 7 p.m. in Winterset.
