Pep Rally 1

Bluejay spirit was high last night as the community came together to celebrate Perry High School’s homecoming with a parade and pep rally.

The parade ran from the high school to 2nd Street, and had an assortment of participants. The final four floats were each built by the individual classes at the school, as they attempted to impress the crowd to win the coveted Spirit Award. After the votes were counted, it was declared the senior class was the victor. During the pep rally, there were speeches given by Chamber Board member Emily Leslie, Mayor Jay Pattee, Superintendent Clark Wicks, School Board member Casey Baldwin, Coach Jason Olejniczak, and Quarterback Alexis Garrido.

Raccoon Valley Radio’s Shawn Kenney emceed the event along with the Big Red Radio, which provided music and information throughout the evening. Of course the parade and pep rally were just part of Wednesday. Earlier in the day the students went out into the community for Volunteer Day, giving their time and services at various locations in the City. The homecoming festivities continue tonight with the king and queen coronation at 8 p.m. Listen to FM 99.7, AM 1310 KDLS starting at 7:30 p.m. for live coverage of the coronation, including interviews with all ten members of the court.
