Several Greene County students swim for Boone under an athletic sharing agreement. The toreadors were at the Marshalltown Bobcat Invitational on Saturday with Boone placing fifth among six teams. Johnston placed first with 348 points and Atlantic was second with 275.5, Indianola 206,5, Marshalltown 182, Boone 145, Ottumwa 84.
Coach Chris Mann said he was proud of how the girls have practiced the last couple weeks. “We have been putting in some hard yards. We were within earshot of our best times today after practicing hard, which is what we want at this point of the season. We should be swimming tire so that we have some time to drop at the end of the season.”
The top six relays and top 12 individuals scored points. Greene County students and their events that scored points are listed below.
Haley Hall- 200 freestyle sixth place; 100 butterfly seventh place; 200 freestyle relay third place; 400 freestyle relay fifth place.
Megan Doran- 200 medley relay third place; 50 freestyle ninth place; 200 freestyle relay third place; 400 freestyle relay 5th place.
Ellie Madson- 200 Individual Medley eleventh place; 500 freestyle ninth place.
Julia Saul- 200 freestyle eleventh place.
The Toreadors are 11-7 overall and they next swim on Sept. 21 at Des Moines Roosevelt.
