Runners from several area schools will be at Adel’s Hillcrest Country Club this afternoon. The Tiger Invitational, the annual home meet of the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers boys and girls cross country teams, takes place today. Among the schools competing in the high school event include Ballard, Carlisle, Interstate 35, Norwalk, Saydel, Van Meter, West Central Valley, and Woodward-Granger.
ADM head cross country coach David Zwank says members of both Tiger cross country teams spent Sunday afternoon getting familiar with the layout of the course. He has special instructions for anyone wanting to attend the meet. “We model our event after the Ballard meet in the fact that there’s not a lot of parking there at Hillcrest.” Zwank said, “So, we use New Hope Church for the parking and then people shuttle to the site.”
Zwank adds there’s a two dollar admission fee for adults and one dollar for students, and the money goes to help take care of property around the Hillcrest Country Club. The Tiger Invitational’s varsity girls race is set to begin at 5:25 p.m., and the boys will follow at 5:45.
