acgcFor the second consecutive year the ACGC Charger football team faced an undefeated ASHTW Vikings squad. Last year the Chargers gave up 55 points in Avoca and failed to score. While the Chargers only gave up 36 points at home, they still couldn’t put a point up on the board as they fell to the Vikings 36-0.

The Vikings won the lopsided game, however they gave the Chargers an average starting field position of the Charger 40 yard line. The Vikings kicked two consecutive balls out of bounds to start the game, advancing the Chargers to their own 35. ASHTW also accumulated 13 penalties for over 100 yards and Gabe Pauley fumbled the ball on a backwards lateral pass, giving the Chargers the ball inside Viking territory. However, penalties and sacks drove the Chargers away from the end zone every time they seemed to get something going.

RJ Harris and Blake Osbahr connected early with two touchdowns totaling 56 yards to put the Vikings up 14-0. The Chargers held the game to that score until the second to last drive of the half, when they gave up a 75 yard punt return touchdown by Drake Partridge. The Vikings made the two point conversion and went up 22-0 at the half. The Vikings added two more touchdowns from Pauley and Gage Clay to reach the 36-0 final score. Pauley finished the night with over 100 yards rushing and notched his sixth rushing touchdown in the win.

The Chargers fell to 1-3 on the season and will travel to Neola next Friday to battle the Tri-Center Trojans.
