The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session yesterday.
The Board awarded the County Transfer Station retaining wall contract to Cornerstone Landscaping. Station Administrator Joyce Miller then gave an update on management, buildings, and grounds. The Board reviewed proposed job descriptions for a new transfer station manager. Miller emphasized that the manager should have experience in both solid waste and recyclables and does not necessarily need a college degree.
County Conservation Director Joe Hanner updated the Board on new lighting at Nations Bridge Park. Hanner also notified the Board that the Raccoon River Valley Trail crossings are complete and patching projects on the trail are still in progress. Eventually, the Conservation Department will be also looking to apply for various state and national trail grants.
The Board then re-appointed Karen Burchfield to the Region XII Regional Housing Authority Board of Directors for an additional year. They also moved to continue the $5,000 pledge for the Guaranteeing Housing Trust Fund and will look into any additional pledges necessary to equal pledges from most Iowa counties.
