Brock Wolfe is feasting on opposing defenses this season. Wolfe leads the district in receiving yards and will have to continue to carry the team as they enter district play against Eagle Grove.
The Wildcats are coming off a week two loss to Saydel. Dual threat quarterback TJ Stephenson launched 165 yards on six passes and added 108 yards and two touchdowns on the ground against the Wildcat defense. West Central Valley will have a similar defensive task against Eagle Grove’s dual threat Brayden Lyman.
Lyman has led the Eagles to a 2-0 start with just six passes. Three of those passes have connected with receivers in the end zone. Lyman has also recorded a modest, yet effective 91 rushing yards on 19 attempts. Most importantly he hasn’t thrown an interception. The Eagles ran the ball effectively in week one and passed the ball effectively in week two. Lyman’s number one target is senior Nikolas Padilla. Padilla snagged 3 catches for 103 yards in week two and rushed for 89 yards in week one.
The Wildcats will look to improve the ground game, as they have 11 rushing yards from players other than Brock Wolfe. A balanced attack might be the key to getting the “W” in week 3.
The Wildcats will honor all veterans during pregame for their Patriot Game celebrations and fireworks will be launched for each Wildcat touchdown. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
