Practical Farmers of Iowa will host another field day near Jefferson Thursday.

The program, “Profitability of Farming Prairie Potholes” will take place on Jerry Peckumn’s farm, where guests will learn about in-field prairie potholes and the impacts they have on the environment and farm profitability, along with options for managing them. Jerry farms with his two sons, Tom and Ben, raising corn and soybeans, along with hay and cattle beef on about 1,900 acres. Together with researchers from Iowa State University, they will share information they’ve gathered about the potholes that are on Jerry’s land.

The event is free and open to the public. It will be held from 10am to 1pm at Jerry’s farm, which is located at 1712 280th Street.
