Greene County’s finest are responding to calls for assistance in Texas to help those affected by Tropical Storm Harvey.
Greene County Sheriff and Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams, along with fellow firefighters Mike Wahl and Terry Becker, Churdan firefighters Garrett Reidesal and Nate Byerly and Paton firefighters James and Joe Doran are headed to the Baytown, Texas. Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio they will be using their rescue boats to help find and rescue victims of the storm from when a levee broke Monday night. The men are taking three boats with them to Texas. Williams adds they responded to help, after officials put out a “call for service.” Williams expects them to be there until Friday. The men left Tuesday afternoon.
The storm has brought flooding and torrential rainfall. It started to hit the Texas mainland last weekend.
