First year head football coach Mitch Moore and his Greene County Rams open the 2017 season tomorrow night in Jefferson at Linduska Field and the coach wants the stands filled with home team fans. “I told our kids the stands aren’t going to be filled because you bench 300 lbs. or you squat 400 lbs., or because you’re the best tackler. They’re going to be filled because of what you’ve done as a member of this community. I’ve got a lot of faith that our fans are going to pack this stadium, and I hope for our kids’ sake that they do because we just passed 500 hours of community service as a football team. Boy, that’s outstanding! I don’t know if we’ll be the best football team in the state, although we’ve improved a lot. But, from a community service standpoint I think we can rival any team in the state and I’m really, really proud of our kids for doing that!”
The game will be the first of the Coach Moore era, and his mostly new coaching staff. Greene County was just 1-8 a season ago.
The Knights of Kuemper Catholic provide the opposition at 7:30 p.m. at Linduska Field with coverage on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com starting at 6:30 p.m. A freshman game at 4:45 p.m. gets the evening started.
