A Pep Rally on the Square will be held early this evening on the Mahanay Tower Plaza in Jefferson. Greene County Activities Booster Club and the Greene County School District is hosting the event, which is in conjunction with the usual Farmer’s Market on the east side of the Courthouse Square.

Following the Farmer’s Market, various athletic games will be held from 6:15-6:45 p.m. Those will include a football throw, volleyball passing and setting, short cross-country races, and cheerleaders will be teaching cheers and jumps. The Greene County HS band/colorguard will operate a Rams tattoo station.

New head football coach/activities director Mitch Moore will speak, as will other Fall sports coaches. Team members will be introduced and cheerleaders will lead the crowd in chants and cheers.

School begins in Greene County tomorrow and the cross-country season for the Rams starts this Thursday in Ames at the Gilbert Coed Invitational on the Iowa State University course. The Rams open the football season on Aug. 25 in Jefferson at Linduska Field with Kuemper Catholic (Carroll). Coverage of the varsity contest Friday starts at 6:30 p.m. on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. The Rams don’t open the varsity volleyball season until Sept. 2.
