The Perry football team will enter into game week today as the Bluejays get set for their season opener this Friday night at North Polk.  Perry wrapped up a busy week last Thursday and Friday hosting back to back to live scrimmages.  Perry ran a controlled in house scrimmage on Thursday before hosting South Hamilton Friday night.   Both the first team offense and first team defense ran a series of plays against South Hamilton’s top units.  Both teams also rehearsed situational moments with a focus on goal line offense and defense at the end.   Perry’s offense showed the ability to throw the football.  Alexis Garrido will be the starting quarterback with a bevy of weapons on the edge highlighted by Reece Dunlap and Brandon Kenyon.  Mark Campos will be the starting running back.

“I thought we saw some good things tonight,” stated co-coach Ben Coy.  “We will break down a lot of it on film and know for sure what we need to focus on for Monday’s work.”

While a lot of the skill positions are set, Coy indicated the offense line is still fighting for spots and playing time. “I think we have a good idea on our skill players but we’re still trying to find some depth up front and mix guys and find the rotation.”
