Stuart Enterprise for Economic Development met Thursday morning to discuss a couple of projects.

The group has applied for a grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to implement an outdoor reading room behind the Stuart Library.  The green space would also act as a pocket park and a desired location for a mural.  The estimated cost of the project is $66,105.

The Board also moved to submit a Revolving Loan Fund application to upgrade the Stuart Saints’ Center.  They are seeking $11,000 in operating capital.

Additionally SEED will rework their lease of the Depot and plan to sublet to the White Pole Road Development Corporation.  The Corporation expressed interest in sharing the facility and using the Depot as a welcome center.

Phase two of the Wambold Addition east of town is also on the Board’s radar.  SEED is in the process of obtaining a purchase agreement for that project.  Tax Increment Financing funds will be used to pay for the addition.
