Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity is looking at one final project for the year.

Associate Director Jeff Lamoureux says they are going to replace a roof at the home of Audrey Stetzel, at 104 North 7th Street in Guthrie Center. He points out one reason why they are looking at this particular project.

“There is some leaks, some small leaks, but this project needed to be done this year rather than having Audrey go through another winter with the roof.”

Lamoureux says the project will also be sped up to just three days next week: August 24th through the 26th, and he’s asking for all willing volunteers to help.

“Again we would typically work with a single congregation or maybe a couple congregations. Because of the urgency of this one, or the quick turnaround, we’ve kind of put a blanket request to all of our congregation coordinators to report back and see if we can get a large enough group to handle this in one weekend rather than several weeks.”

Lamoureux adds that anyone can volunteer to help with the Guthrie Center project. Contact him at the Jefferson office at 386-3093.
