The recent Perry Lutheran Home used jean drive has yielded a great deal of success.
Organized by Sole Hope, over 160 pairs of jeans were donated during the drive. They will now be turned into shoes and sent to children living in jigger-infested areas of Uganda, Africa. Of course, collecting the jeans was only step one. The next step is to cut them into specific shapes and prepare them for shipment. This will involve patterns, markers, scissors, and the participation of the public. Very soon the Perry Lutheran Home will be inviting people to help transform the jeans into future footwear.
