The Perry Chamber of Commerce is in a transitional period with the recent departure of Director Bob Wilson and the move to the Town Craft Building. However, the Chamber Board is using the transition as a way to refocus themselves on what they feel is most important.

Chamber Board President Chrissy Danger says before they think about hiring a new director, they want to reorganize themselves and focus more on business promotion, as opposed to event planning. While the Board would still like to stay active with events, Danger says that aspect should take a backseat to helping the local businesses. “I think that’s what a chamber is supposed to be about. We kind of became an event planning organization. Now we have this opportunity where we have some time, we have a really good board with a lot of new members, and a more committed board I guess I would say. And so we can start focusing on the business and start out with someone that that is their focus.”

As a guide, Danger says they will pay closer heed to their mission statement, which is: to promote and improve the business environment, stimulate a vibrant local economy, and produce a cooperative effort to enhance the overall quality of life. She further explains, “We want to focus on our town and why our town is great. And that will get the people in our town to spread the word that our town’s great. And if we are helping our businesses succeed, that’ll help tremendously to bring up the quality of life for everyone here.”
