New Greene County High School head football coach Mitch Moore has made a number of changes since taking over last Winter. Among those is increasing the usage of former players for the Rams.

John Michael Sawhill is a 2008 Jefferson-Scranton graduate who is volunteering when he can around his day job as a banker. Coach Moore explains John Michael’s role. “He’s volunteering for us, but really kind of coordinating our defense from afar. He’s a great football mind who played defensive tackle at Drake University, and had a little stint at the University of Iowa until an injury put an end to that. He’ll certainly be instrumental in kind of corralling our defense and helping us all get on the same page.”

The Rams practice from 5-6:15 p.m. today in Scranton at the old football field. They were in Churdan two days ago and in Grand Junction last Friday.

All Greene County varsity football games will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.comm. Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) is the first opponent for Coach Moore’s team. That game opens the season on Aug. 25 in Jefferson at Linduska Field.
