BTF Parade 05Everyone is invited to this weekend’s 18th annual Threshing Bee event in Jefferson.

Co-organizer Nick Foster says there’s lots going on this weekend at Pleasant Prairie Farm. Saturday’s activities include two threshing bee demonstrations at 10am and 2pm, along with a special steam engine plowing show at 4pm. There will also be an antique tractor and truck show and local musical entertainment, along with a free barbecue meal at 6pm. Foster describes the kid-friendly activities.

“Miniature petting zoo, that’s new for this year. We’re also going to have a sandbox filled with corn with toys for little kids to play in under a shade tree. Kids usually get an opportunity to shell corn by hand with a hand corn sheller. So there’s activities for the children and adults as well.”

Sunday kicks off with a morning tractor ride at 7am. Riders will be treated to a breakfast in Lohrville before heading back. There are two additional threshing times at 1 and 3pm on Sunday.

Foster says everything is free due to the generosity of all the sponsors. Pleasant Prairie Farm is located at 1176 M Avenue.
