As the summer roles on and high school baseball reaches it’s climax, so too does the world of summer track and field. As reported earlier on the Raccoon Valley Radio network, ADM track stars Keaton Kester and Sadie Juergens have qualified and will be participating in the Hershey’s National Junior Track & Field Championships which have already commenced in Lawrence Kansas.
Both Kester and Juergens qualified for this week back in early summer, both doing so under two separate events. After taking the 3A state crown in both the 100 and 200 meter dash events, Kester clocked in a pair of personal bests with 12.08 seconds in the 100 meter dash and an equally impressive time of 24.56 seconds in the 200 meter dash.
Sadie Juergens also wowed the crowed crowning herself champion in both the 400 dash and 800 meter run in qualifying. Juergens’s 400 meter ticket was punched with a time of 1:02.61 while she continued her dominance in the 800 meter run clocking in with a qualifying time of 1:02.00.
The championships have been broken down into various age groups and for Sadie, she has been grouped into the girls 15-16 age group and she will be the first of the two to embark upon the big stage beginning with round one of the 15-16 800 meter run which starts at 12:40 pm this afternoon. Keaton Kester has been grouped into the girls 17-18 age group she will also be in action today with round one of the 200 meter dash taking place at 3:40 pm this afternoon. Kester will be taking on her second event tomorrow afternoon with the girls 17-18 round one of the 100 meter dash starting at 2:10 pm. Juergens will then be the finale between the two as round one of the girls 15-16 400 meter dash event gets set for Friday morning at 11:00 am.
