The ADM baseball team took on round one of the postseason Friday night and despite a fantastic season, the 2017 campaign would end after Greene County defeated the Tigers in Harlan 7-4. Some questionable calls and light offense along with some field miscues all came together against ADM on the night.

It was quite the inauspicious start for the Tigers who have thrived off of being the first to score, however Friday night they saw themselves down by a 5-0 score heading into the bottom of the third. The Tigers would claw their way back in the home half of third courtesy of two RBI’s from Kade Overton and Dalton Hews with an errant Greene County throw allowing for the third run. There were only two innings all game where the Rams did not score a run with two in the first, one run in the second, two in the third, and one run a piece in both the 5th and 6th innings.

ADM meanwhile would acquire just one more run doing so courtesy of a Jack O’Brien RBI double in the 5th inning. O’Brien would end up connecting on the team’s final hit of 2017 in the seventh inning but no more offense could be produced by the Tigers and they would conclude their season with the 7-4 loss.

ADM starter Kade Overton received the loss after 2 2/3 innings of work giving up 4 earned runs of of 5 hits, walking 2 and striking out three. The winning pitcher on the night went to Greene County’s Ben Wilkens who went four strong innings, giving up two hits, three runs, with one walk while setting down 6 Tiger batters via strikeout.

Overall ADM ended their season against Greene County with 4 runs off of 4 hits, while suffering 3 errors and five runners left on base. Of those five, four were in scoring position. As for the Rams, they took the win after totaling 7 runs off of 9 hits, committing no errors in the field and leaving 6 runners on base.

ADM ends their season with a mark of 18-14 while 10-8 against non conference teams.
