Perry picked the worst time to struggle in the field as the Jayettes committed a season high 7 errors as 9th ranked Carlisle blasted number 10 Perry 14-1 in 5 innings Tuesday night.  With the win, the Wildcats denied Perry a return trip to the state tournament.

Perry wasn’t sharp from the start as 6 of the first 8 Wildcat runs were unearned.  Carlisle scored three in the top of the first inning only to see Perry counter with their lone run on an Alyssa Kruger RBI double to cut it to 3-1.  That was as close as the Jayettes would come and surprisingly would be the final run Perry scored off Carlisle starter Sara Scott.  The Wildcats ended the game early sending 9 batters to the plate in the 5th inning scoring 6 times.  Senior Agatha Beier led an 8 hit Wildcat attack finishing with 4 RBI’s.  Carlisle was perfect on the night taking advantage of the Perry mistakes.  They ended up 6-6 on stolen bases and executed 5 sacrifice bunts in their small ball approach.

Sidney Vancil led Perry with a pair of hits.

The lopsided loss was not indicative of the type of season or career of three senior Jayettes.  Emma Olejniczak leaves Perry high school as one of the most dominant pitchers in school history.  A starter since the 8th grade, Olejniczak recorded over 1200 strikeouts to go along with 87 career wins.  She finished Tuesday night with 3 strikeouts and 4 walks.  She will continue her softball career at Northern Iowa.

Rachel Kinney finishes her career with 104 RBI’s and will play at Simpson next year.  Catcher Brooke Huntington also graduates after having been the starting catcher the past 3 years.

The Jayettes close out the season 26-11.  Carlisle advances to state next week.
