The end of the line for the Panorama Panther baseball team in 2017 abruptly came Saturday night in round one of the 2A district 15 baseball tournament. The Panthers were up against the host Wolves of IKM-Manning and fell just short by an 8-6 final.
Despite the loss the Panther bats were quite alive in the contest with 10 total hits on the night. Panorama junior Tanner Godfrey did the most damage for the Panthers collecting 3 hits in four trips to the plate with 2 RBI’s and coming around to score once himself. Senior Justin Rolfs connected on an RBI while going 2-4 himself at the plate.
Luke South also had a solid night at the plate with three hits in five trips to the plate while connecting on one RBI and scoring once. South also represented Panorama on the mound and put up some solid numbers against a strong Wolves offense. The freshmen took the loss and went four innings giving up 9 hits and 7 runs although only four were earned. South issued just one walk on the night while tossing three strikeouts.
Unfortunately for the Panthers, they witnessed the Wolves move on to round two while Panorama’s season came to a close with a final record of 4-18.
