With the new texting while driving law as a primary offense for law enforcement to pull someone over, one county sheriff likes the change.
Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says he likes the change in the law to improve public safety on the roads, but he would like to see the law go even further.
“I think personally, on down the road we should have hands free, as far as use of phone purposes, and I think that’s where we need to get to for it to be the safest way.”
As of July 1st, the new law allows law enforcement to pull motorists over if they believe someone is texting while driving. Arganbright says he sees just about everyone on their cell phones as they are driving and he agrees that the new law is a step in the right direction to help decrease distracted driving.
