Recent Greene County High School graduate Emily Heupel is one of the candidates for this year’s Greene County Fair Queen.
Emily is the daughter of Dave and Kristen Heupel. She has been in 4-H for eight years and is with the Greenbrier 4-H Club. She’s been involved with State 4-H and Greene County 4-H councils. This past year she has been involved in student council, Interact Club, volleyball, golf, choir, band, large group and individual speech and was senior class valedictorian.
She explains why she is running for Greene County Fair Queen.
“Well to be honest, at first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do that. But once I kind of learned it was more of looking into what these people do for the community and how they can be a good role model for the community, I thought it would be more interesting. And I thought I had been involved in a lot of things that I would like to share with others.”
This year, Heupel will also be showing photography, sewing, working exhibit, and sheep at the county fair. She qualified three exhibits to the Iowa State Fair last year.
Heupel is one of four candidates vying for the county fair queen crown. The coronation ceremony will take place in Clover Hall on Friday, July 14th at 6:30pm.
