With WHO’s Tractor Ride starting tomorrow, motorists may encounter slow-moving tractors throughout Greene County and surrounding counties.
Monday through Wednesday, riders will take off from Wild Rose Casino and Resorts in Jefferson between 6am to 10am. Monday’s route will head north through Churdan, up through Farnhamville, back through Boxholm to Jefferson. Tuesday’s route will be south through Scranton, down to Guthrie Center, then back up east by Cooper to Jefferson. Wednesday’s route will head east by Grand Junction, over to Ogden, back through Dana to Jefferson.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says motorists need to be aware that there will be lots of tractors on the roadways in and around Greene County for the next three days.
“Just make sure that you’re staying vigilant as to what’s in front of you. There’s a lot of hills on the roads that they’re traveling. So make sure that you’re paying attention when you come over the hills that there may be a slow-moving tractor or several of them in front of you. Expect delays at the intersections, just due to the large amount of tractors.”
Williams adds that he along with Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse will be directing traffic on Highway 30 and 4 each morning to safely get the tractors out of Wild Rose.
The Iowa State Patrol will provide law enforcement to help direct traffic along the routes each day of the ride.
