Boone used a seven run 7th inning to defeat Perry 14-4 in Raccoon River Conference baseball Thursday night at Progressive Field. The Toreadors jumped on Perry for 6 runs in the top of the 3rd inning. Trailing 7-0 in the 4th, Perry battled back with four runs of their own. Kaleb Olejniczak, Kyle Nevitt and Janier Puente provided RBI’s in the inning. However any hopes of a Perry comeback would be squashed in the top of the 7th when Boone scored 7 more runs. Jayton Hull delivered a 2-run homerun and finished with 4 RBI’s on the night. Boone outhit Perry 11-7 and the Bluejays committed 4 errors on the night.
Janier Puente went six innings throwing 113 pitches. He allowed 6 earned runs on 8 hits and 4 walks to go along with 4 strikeouts. Aaron Lockwood gave up 5 runs in his one inning of work. Brandon Kenyon led Perry with 2 hits and 1 RBI.
The Bluejays fall to 5-14 and 4-6 in RRC action while Boone improves to 12-7 and 7-3. Perry will travel to Knoxville tonight for a non-conference game with the Panthers.
