ACGC baseball was not only involved in a heated conference contest last night, but a Guthrie County showdown taking on the Wildcats of West Central Valley in Guthrie Center.
Although spirits were high for Chargers coming into the contest, a nine run top of the seventh from West Central Valley would put the game well out of reach for ACGC who would fall 17-4. The game actually started off quite competitive with the Chargers actually yielding a 1-0 lead after the first inning. As West Central Valley put up four runs in the top of the third, the Chargers would answer to tie the game at 4-4 with a three run bottom of the third.
From there however it would be the Wildcats to slowly pull away pushing across two runs in the fifth and sixth innings with the biggest blowing being the nine run 7th. Meanwhile ACGC’s offense would be halted at four runs as they would suffer the loss, bringing their record to 3-9 inside the conference with a 4-10 mark overall. The Chargers would acquire 7 hits in the contest pushing across those four runs on 2 RBI’s, 5 stolen bases, and 3 walks.
The biggest bat on the night came from Jacob Joliet who went 3-4 with a double in the process. On the mound Joliet would suffer the loss despite tossing a solid game of 7 innings with just three earned runs, four strikeouts, and four walks while giving up 10 hits.
The Chargers will look to bounce back in a hurry as they take to the road in Van Meter this afternoon beginning with first pitch at 6:30 pm.
