It was an offensive explosion for the ADM Tiger softball team last night connecting on 16 hits and three home runs to push across 14 runs en rout to a 14-7 road victory over Carroll. Carroll would post up 7 runs of their own off of 8 hits and one error.
ADM would not take long to burst onto the scoreboard as Sierra Wyant, just the second batter of the game, elevated on a pitch to left field for her 4th home run of the season and an early 1-0 lead for ADM. Carroll drew the game even at 1-1 after 2 innings but thanks to Ashley Tennant’s three run blast in the top of the third, ADM would regain the lead 4-1 and never look back from there. As they did all night long, Carroll would continue to make the game interesting scratching across 4 runs through the next three innings. ADM meanwhile would match that and then some striking for 3 runs in the 4th, one run in the fifth, and four runs in the sixth highlighted by Lexi Wyant parking a ball past the left field fence for her first home run of the season.
ADM would tack on two more runs in the top half of the seventh while holding off a late game Carroll surge to hold on for the 14-7 win. The win gets the Lady Tigers back into the win column taking the season sweep against their Tiger counterparts all while breaking a five game conference loosing skid.
You might think that it would be hard finding a couple batters who stood out the most in a game where everybody recorded at least one hit, yet there were still two Lady Tigers who highlighted the night. The busiest bat of the night came from Sierra Wyant going 4-5 with one home run, 3 RBI’s, while reaching base safely in all five at bats. Ashley Tennant had a stellar night as well going 3-4 with 4 RBI’s and a home run. In total six ADM batters recorded an RBI for the contest.
Inside the circle it was Abbie Hlas to take the win for ADM doing so off of 7 strong innings of work giving up just five earned runs off of 8 hits, walking two and striking out two. Carroll’s Julia LaRue would be handed the loss for Carroll completing just over 6 innings of work, giving up 14 earned runs off of 16 hits while tossing one strikeout.
With the win ADM now improves to 15-12 overall giving themselves a boost inside conference play which now rest at 4-6. Carroll meanwhile drops to 9-10-1 and 1-6-1 inside Raccoon River Conference play. ADM will now be taking to game three of a 4 game conference road trip tonight in Bondurant-Farrar with first pitch slated for 7:30 pm.
