The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Guthrie County was held Friday night.
The Relay was originally going to be held on the AC/GC High School track but was forced inside by bad weather. Even with the setback, Co-Event Event Lead Becky Peterson told Raccoon Valley Radio at the event how important it was to carry on.
“We actually called it at 8:30 this morning. It is so important that we recognize these teams for how hard they have worked all year to raise $50,000. No matter where we have to have it we are so proud of the teams and the communities contribution.”
The night included a silent auction, live pie auction, survivor walk, luminaria ceremony and the stories of a number of survivors.
Fundraising through Relay For Life events supports the Society’s mission to prevent cancer, save lives and diminish suffering from cancer.
