In a final burst of activity for Stuart’s Good Egg Days, a lawnmower race, which Organizer Les Cassady hopes will become an annual event at the Stuart Speedway, takes place tomorrow.
Cassady, an avid lawnmower racer himself, says the contests are fun to watch and a relatively cheap hobby to get into.
“It’s just like anything else, you really just want to beat the guy next to you on the track. It’s a lot of fun and a great community to be a part of.”
The event is sanctioned by the Central Iowa Lawn Mower Racing Association and the races, split into three classes, will begin at 1:00 p.m. Gates to the speedway will open at 11:00 a.m. Tickets are $5 and children 10 and under are free.
