isu extensionGuthrie County Extension and Outreach is hosting a Beginning Farmer night in Guthrie Center Thursday, June 15th at 6 p.m. The event will be held at the Extension office and is free to attend. There will be a variety of speakers and opportunities for producers to get questions answered.

Speakers include Steve Ferguson with  the Iowa Ag Development Division will be sharing information and updates pertaining to the Iowa Beginning Farmer tax credit and loans. A  local USDA Farm Service Agency loan manager will also share information about beginning farmer loans. ISU Extension Farm Transition Specialist Dave Baker will be discussing the services available through the Iowa Beginning Farmer Center. ISU Extension Farm Management Specialist Shane Ellis will talk about resources available from ISU Extension and the Ag Decision Maker Website.

Those who are starting out in agriculture and those who work with them are encouraged to attend. A light meal will be served before the program. Pre-register by calling the Extension office in Guthrie Center at 641-747-2276.
