The State Data Center recently released population estimates for the cities in Greene County.

All seven incorporated cities saw a population decline from 2010 to July 1, 2016. Jefferson saw just over a four-percent decrease in population from 4,350 in 2010 to 4,169 in 2016. Scranton had the largest percentage drop in population with 4.5-percent to 532 in 2016. Rippey had the smallest percentage decrease of 2.4-percent.

The other cities include Paton with a 2.5-percent declining population, Dana had a 2.8-percent drop, Grand Junction saw a 3.9-percent decrease, while Churdan had a 4.4-percent downfall in population.

Greene County’s overall population declined by 3.5-percent from 2010 to 2016 with 9,011 residents.
