The Greene County School Board met in special session Thursday.
The Board hired Mitch Moore as the new activities director. Moore’s position will be half-time AD with a base salary of $38,819. His other duties with the school district include the high school head football coach for $6,786 and helping with weight training for $9,051. With other benefits such as FICA and IPERS, the total amount is $63,720.
Superintendent Tim Christensen said he discussed partnering with the Greene County Youth Athletic Association with Moore’s training program for athletes. The Board will consider a separate proposal from GCYAA at a future meeting.
Moore takes over for Dean Lansman who resigned as AD, head boys’ track and field coach and high school science teacher last month. Lansman is the new assistant coach for football and boys’ track and field, as well as a high school science teacher at North Polk High School.
The meeting then ended in a closed session to discuss imminent litigation and strategy for an administrative law judge hearing set later this month with an administrator.
