The Perry boys soccer team wasn’t playing in the game they had hoped for at the state tournament, but played hard in a losing effort in Saturday afternoon’s class 2A consolation game.

As heard live on FM 99.7 and AM 1310 KDLS, the third-seeded Bluejays lost 4-3 to the fourth-seeded Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden. Perry advanced to the state tournament by defeating Bondurant-Farrar 4-0 in their substate final. The Bluejays were seeded third in the tournament and faced sixth-seeded Winterset in the first round. They defeated the Warriors 1-0 in a thrilling double overtime match. Their run for a state title ended with a 4-0 loss at the hands of defending champion and second-seeded Norwalk, which placed them in Saturday’s consolation game against Iowa Falls-Alden. Perry finishes the season with a record of 16-6.
